About Therapy

A new kind of mental health (hint:it ain’t just ‘mental’)

You deserve a progressive approach to mental health that incorporates your embodied experience, creativity, natural resilience, and awareness of the larger societal context within which you exist.

The pain and stress you feel aren’t made-up or coming out of nowhere.

You are feeling the weight of the world. Your body knows the impact of unresolved past traumas, of being a queer body in what often feels like a hostile environment, of trying to keep everyone around you happy and calm, of giving your all to jobs that don’t care about you in return, of trying to build a future for yourself on what feels like really shaky ground … the struggle is real!

My goal is to empower you to build a life you love while acknowledging and working within the systems of the injustice inherent in our modern world.

My work is queer-centered and celebrating, body and sex-positive, and oriented around anti-oppression.

And to all the artists, burners, kinksters, polyamorous/CNM practitioners, sex workers, punks, queens, and other weirdos looking for a safe and affirming space, you’re in the right place!

Let’s get curious!

What are your values and truths… and how can you live those truths in joy and confidence at this stage of your life?

Answering these questions starts with developing a deep and honest inner connection with yourself.

It starts with noticing the texture of your breath.

It starts with wondering about that feeling in your heart.

It starts with tending to that tension in your shoulders.

It starts with noticing how your body responds to the people, places, and experiences you encounter.

Listening to your body is the most direct path to increasing self-awareness and understanding your emotions, identities, and priorities. You can then align your outward actions with your internal truths through embodiment and creative movement practices.

Let’s get moving!

Your journey of self-discovery, healing, and growth is not just an intellectual exercise. It’s not just something to think about… it’s something to feel and experience.

As we explore your experiences and concerns in session, we will use body awareness, movement, imagery, metaphor, and music to deepen and expand the therapeutic process.

Movement signifies vitality, change, adaptability. It’s the opposite of stagnation. When we mindfully allow thoughts and emotions to MOVE through us, we can ride the waves of life with fluidity and grace.

Let’s find YOUR path… together.

You’re seeking calm, clarity, confidence, connection. But more than that, it’s important to find your authentic version and learn what these feel like for you, in your body.

Every session will be personalized just for you. I will bring all my knowledge and experience to the table, but I firmly believe that you are the expert in your life, and your input is vital to the success of therapy.

We will set a compass direction together and check in often about where we are on the map. And we’ll go into this knowing that the journey will be nonlinear, full of twists and turns and surprises.

I’ll be with you every step of the way.

In our time together, you will learn how to tune into your body as a source of wisdom and support, how to ground yourself as you ride waves of difficult emotions, develop a strong sense of who you really are (not what other people want you to be), and have the confidence to express yourself out in the world.

We will slowly uncover the old, deep patterns of thinking, feeling, and acting that aren’t serving you anymore. We’ll look closely at where they came from and begin a loving rewrite of the negative stories held in your body and brain.

The result? You’ll be better aligned with the life you want to build.

My style tends to be very gentle and compassionate, but I will challenge you when you need the extra push to progress.

This process isn’t easy, but I promise you it is worth it!

About Me

Here’s a little about my story…

I remember what it was like when my life wasn’t aligned with what I really wanted – when I was hiding big parts of myself because I felt afraid – when the things that were so important to me seemed scattered and far away. Man… was I crying a lot!

I oh-so-conveniently hit my breaking point while traveling internationally, and I knew I needed to come home. Not home to the States… but home to myself – to my body – and to dance.

Dance has always been my home base. As fate would have it, it was at this time that I stumbled into a dance studio in Chaing Mai, Thailand… and that studio happened to be owned by a phenomenal dance meditation teacher. Suffice it to say that I soon canceled a month’s worth of travel plans, choosing instead to spend the time in that studio where I got to dance, write, make art (and DANCE that art!).

This was how I came home to myself.

But that’s just the beginning of the story…

The way of the body is deep and unending. Through my own somatic explorations, I have found the inner strength and clarity I needed to make some drastic changes in my life. I’ve changed careers, come out as bisexual, found comfort and joy in my gender, reconnected with my lineage, deepened my relationships, and built a business I love.

I grew to understand my values and beliefs well enough to tattoo them on my arm.

But this isn’t a one-and-done process. Through dance and movement, I get to come home to myself again and again – each time revealing new, invaluable layers that propel me forward.

This is my mission…

I want to create meaningful, healing spaces where you can experience embodied transformation. It might sound idealistic, but I wholeheartedly believe that the key to changing the world for the better starts with this personal journey.

Movement and embodiment have been integral to my process of healing and self-discovery. That’s why I’m so passionate about sharing this work with you as a therapist. This career has been the most rewarding and wonderful endeavor because it lets me combine my deep love for dance and movement with my deep love for humans and the stunning human body-mind.

Some of my education and training…

I graduated in 2020 (yup, THAT year) from Naropa University with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Somatic Counseling and a concentration in Dance/Movement Therapy (WHEW! Isn’t that a mouth full?). In addition to being very body-based, this training was grounded in relational, attachment-based, humanistic, and social justice orientations.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Colorado.

My post-graduate education has included additional training in treating complex trauma and CPTSD, LGBTQ+ identity and mental health, and somatic-concentric sex therapy. I am also a certified instructor in dance/movement meditation and mindfulness meditation, which I actively incorporate into my therapy style.

But who am I really… like, as a person?

I strongly identify as a fire sign, but people tend to say I’m really grounded.

I’m white, Buddhist, bisexual, female, and still feeling into all the nuances of gender.

My happy place is in front of a quality set of speakers with a Primus album. I love dancing (obviously), seeing live music, being quiet in nature, and being covered in dirt after a day of gardening.

I’ve spent an excessive amount of time in my life planning for, being at, recovering from, and generally surrounding myself with Burning Man (the festival and the related subculture) ever since my first trek out to that desert when I was 18. I’m delighted to be on the board of Art in Community, a 501c3 Nonprofit that cultivates (you guessed it) Burner related art and community in our local Boulder area.

My days are also graced by a very opinionated 18-pound house-tiger named Pantalaimon, who I adore enough to make my husband jealous.

If your heart is pounding and you’re feeling that pull in your chest … you know it’s time.

Don’t wait any longer! Give me a call at (401) 307-3449, or even better, book a time for us to talk straight onto my calendar.

I offer a free 20-minute consultation call where we can get to know each other, I’ll answer any question you have, and we can see if we are the right match.

I can’t wait to meet you!
